The poster Syphilis: A Million New Victims Each Year, used to illustrate our story on the spring lecture series, is one of more than 70,000 images included in Images from the History of Medicine (IHM), an online picture database that is part of the National Library of Medicine (NLM) History of Medicine Division’s Prints and Photographs Collection. IHM includes portraits, photographs, caricatures, genre scenes, posters, and graphic art illustrating the social and historical aspects of medicine dating from the 15th to 21st century. Records indicate if individual items are in the public domain, or if permission to use them must be requested from copyright holders.
Images from the History of Medicine can be found online at http://www.nlm.nih.gov/hmd/ihm/.
