Alice Pakravan retires after 27 years with the Briscoe Library

After 27 years of service at the Briscoe Library, Alice Pakravan will retire at the end of July.  Alice began her journey at the Briscoe Library in 1984. At that time she became part of the Technical Services division, where she was primarily responsible for the physical processing of new books. Today Alice is responsible for ordering new books for the Briscoe Library and all branch locations. She also handles payment for new books and assists with the maintenance of catalog records. Over the years Alice has been involved in many collection management activities and has been a key contributor in helping expand and maintain the book collection at the Briscoe Library.

Alice has a tremendous amount of historical knowledge and has witnessed first-hand the transition from print to electronic resources. She has watched her job evolve over the years and has enjoyed working in a dynamic environment. Alice has always been a friendly face around the library and will be greatly missed by all of her colleagues.

In her retirement, Alice will enjoy spending time with friends and family and traveling as much as possible.  She hopes to plan a trip to Disneyland with her grandkids in the near future.
