Brushes with Nature : Landscapes by Delores O’Neill Meldrum will be on display in the Briscoe Library Information Commons through October 27, 2011.
The artist, who has recently moved to San Antonio from California, is an award-winning painter whose work has been featured in many juried exhibitions and galleries, including the Lana International Art Competition, Campbell Thiebaud Gallery, San Francisco; Watercolor Artists of Sacramento Horizons, Fine Arts Center; and the Georgia Watercolor Society, of which she is a Signature Member.
Ms. Meldrum’s work is held in private and corporate collections in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Japan.
The watercolors and oil paintings selected for this exhibit demonstrate Meldrum’s appreciation for the beauty of nature. Many of the landscapes represent mountains in the Sierra Nevada. The artist sees landscapes “as gardens of the world, public, private, wild or cultivated. I want to find beauty and capture the spirit, mood, or feeling of the place.”
