Renovations to the Dolph Briscoe, Jr. Library started in early November. The project, which involves creating new space for the School of Medicine’s Office of Education out of 5000 square feet on the library’s 5th floor, is expected to be completed in May 2012.
The Briscoe Library Renovations blog will chronicle changes to the 5th floor in the coming months. Current posts include construction updates, information about available study locations both in and outside the library, an explanation of the process of moving and “weeding” the library’s collection that has been undertaken to make space for the new offices, and President Henrich’s announcement of the project. The site also includes YouTube video of how many tons of books and shelving were moved in only a few hours to clear space for the construction of the new offices.
