An exhibit documenting emergency medical response to the Haiti earthquake of 2010 is currently on display in the lecture hall commons of the School of Medicine. The photos were taken by Dr. Ruth Berggren, Director of the Center for Medical Humanities & Ethics; Dr. Tyler Curiel, Professor of Medicine; and Dr. Cesar Ricci, General Surgery Resident. Dr. Berggren, Dr. Curiel, and Dr. Ricci, (who was at the time an MS4) traveled to Haiti in the days following the January12, 2010 earthquake to volunteer with Remote Area Medical, a non-profit airborne relief organization. The photos in the exhibit were taken in Haiti and at Hospital Buen Samaritano in Jimani, Dominican Republican.
Also on display in the Information Commons of the Briscoe Library: Two Cups of Coffee, an exhibit documenting a four-week medical service experience in Ethiopia. Both exhibits will remain on display through the end of 2011.
