Library consolidates reference collection to free up space

In order to maximize study space on the third floor, the library has reduced the size of its reference collection. Prior to this change the library had two reference collections, the ready reference collection and the regular reference collection, both totaling over 2,000 volumes.  These collections were housed on the third floor of the library.

The new reference collection is a combination of the former ready reference and regular reference collections.  The new reference collection consists of approximately 230 volumes and is located near the Pod C computers on the main floor of the library.

The new collection is more concise but still remains authoritative in nature.  Materials in this collection do not circulate but can be browsed in the library.  Many materials from the former reference collections were weeded, replaced with electronic resources, or moved to the general collection.
