Interlibrary Loan

This service is available to UT Health Science Center at San Antonio affiliated users and to health professionals in the South Central Texas region who qualify to register as Area Health Professionals with the Library. They are not available to guests from the community, including individuals, corporations, law firms or organizations. These groups may take advantage of services provided by their local public library branch.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) HSC Users :  Request items that we do not have in our collection and we will order from another library. Generally interlibrary loan requests are filled within 3-5 business days. Requests for print materials generally take 7-10 business days. First time users must create an ILLiad account. For questions contact the ILL department at 210-567-2460 or ariel-ill@uthscsa.edu. Cost: Free.

First time users must register with the library and create an ILLiad account.  All filled request charges will be invoiced at the end of the month.  You can pay with Cash, Check (Government issued ID required), money order, or Credit Card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express).  For questions contact the ILL department at 210-567-2460 or ariel-ill@uthscsa.edu. Cost: $15.00 per article (copyright fees may apply).

What type of materials are available through ILL?

  • Copies of articles from journals and book chapters (as permitted by copyright laws)
  • Circulating copies of books, dissertations, audiovisuals, and other materials
  • Items that are stored off-site

Notifications

Notices are sent via email when items have been received and are available to be picked up, delivered online, or mailed through U.S. Postal Service. Delivery times are estimates and are not guaranteed.

 Suggest a Purchase

Do you know of a book or journal you think would benefit our collection in the long run? Use the Purchase Suggestion form to request the purchase of a book, journal, or other item for our collection. We make every effort to fill purchase requests, but cannot guarantee that funding will be available.

If you don’t want to wait for Interlibrary Loan, you may prefer to visit another library in the area. Most are open to the public, and many allow UTHSC borrowers to check books out under the TexShare program
