National Network of Libraries of Medicine to offer classes in San Antonio and Harlingen

NN-LMTwo new classes offered by the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NN/LM) are scheduled for the Briscoe and Ramirez Libraries in May and June.

No More Yawning: Designing and Delivering Successful Presentations
In this class participants will learn to:

  • understand characteristics of adult learners
  • create a lesson plan
  • develop learning objectives
  • design effective visual aids and supporting training material
  • apply basic tips to create a more engaging and dynamic presentation

When:
Ramirez Library in Harlingen on Tuesday May 21, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.  Registration deadline is May 10.
Briscoe Library in San Antonio on Monday June 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Caring for the Mind: Providing Mental Health Information at Your Library
In this class participants will learn to:

  • gain awareness of mental health issues
  • learn to respond to challenging reference questions for mental health information
  • be informed of tools for collection development and mental health research including the latest web sites and databases

When:
Ramirez Library in Harlingen on Tuesday May 22, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  Registration deadline is May 10.
Briscoe Library in San Antonio on Monday June 3, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
