The national celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month each year is September 15 through October 15.

The Hispanic Latin Faculty Association, the Briscoe Library, the Center for Medical Humanities & Ethics, the Latin Medical Student Association, the Hispanic Student Nurses Association, the Student Government Association, and the Office of Student Life are holding a celebration of the Hispanic culture on October 15 from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the School of Nursing Hurd Auditorium. This celebration will feature Dr. Carmen Tafolla, San Antonio’s first poet laureate.

Our university’s mission is focused on South Texas, which is greatly enriched by the Hispanic culture. We are proud of the roles our Hispanic faculty, staff, students and residents play in delivering our missions of education, research, clinical care and service to South Texas and the world. Please join me in celebrating the Hispanic culture during Hispanic Heritage Month and especially during our campus activities on October 15.
