Evidence-based acquisitions project means more e-books for UT Health Science Center Libraries

The UT Health Science Center Libraries have acquired a set of electronic books as part of an Evidence-Based Acquisitions project with several University of Texas System libraries. The project is funded by the University of Texas System Board of Regents and will include e-books from Elsevier/ScienceDirect that have a 2013 publication date. New titles will continue to be added through December 31, 2013. Subject areas include biomedical sciences & medicine, immunology, microbiology, psychology, nursing, dentistry and many more.ebooks

The evidence-based (also known as patron-driven or demand driven) acquisition model allows libraries to acquire more e-books at a reduced cost, while keeping specific user needs in mind. Exploring this collection is encouraged since acquiring content is dependent on user participation. The evidence-based acquisitions e-books can be accessed through the library catalog and can also be browsed by selecting the “Elsevier eBooks on ScienceDirect” link on the library’s e-book page.
