Briscoe Library and Northwest Vista College Offer Webinar “Partnering with Community Health Workers”

SCR CONNECTions is a monthly web conference presented by the National Network of Libraries of Medicine South Central Region on various topics of interest to health sciences librarians and others. The webinar highlights topics such as NLM databases, subject specific resources, and technology topics.

For the November webinar, Fernando Martinez, Professor and Coordinator for the Community Health Worker Program at Northwest Vista College, and Peg Seger, Head of Outreach and Community Engagement at Briscoe Library, provided  a presentation for over 70 area librarians and community health workers.

Community Health Workers (CHWs) play a crucial role in improving the health literacy of their communities. They have a unique understanding of those they serve and can facilitate communication and trust between clinicians and patients. To learn more about the training required for CHWs in our region and the work they do, you can listen to a recording of the presentation.
