New Art Specimens on Display in the Library

Perfect for this time of year, you must come by and visit the latest specimens on display at Briscoe Library. The exhibit, curated by library Special Collections Assistant Melissa DeThorne, is an introduction to the work of artist Carla Yeatts. Carla graduated from the Tom Savini Special Makeup Effects Program in 2017 and since then has been making creature sculptures in her studio in Austin, Texas. She is inspired by classic horror films: Phantom of the Opera, Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Wolf Man and more recent examples, Hellboy, Hellraiser, and Pan’s Labyrinth. You can find her creatures at galleries across the United States and in homes of private collectors.

For more information about Carla, see her website at carlayeattescreatures.com. To meet the artist, plan on attending the artist’s lunch-time reception on October 28th during Student Appreciation Week in the library.

Prints of Carla’s works are available for purchase.
