Customer Service

A wonderful resource!

The library has opened a whole new world for me relative to all the different aspects of the services they provide. No longer do I believe that libraries are just for accessing books and journals. The expertise available in our library and the personnel regarding databases, searches and events is outstanding. I have enjoyed their efforts to bring the campus together in their special events. A wonderful resource!

Best of luck to Pennie Borchers

Am sorry to hear that we will not be blessed with the knowledge, skill, and beautiful character of Ms. Borchers here at the UTHSCSA much longer. I am happy to have met and worked with her. I wish her the best of luck and happiness in all her future endeavors.

Closing of Downtown Library

Note sent to Linda Levy, Assistant Director for Branch Libraries and Ron Mesa, Library Clerical Assistant, Senior, who provided services at the Downtown Library until it closed its doors in July 2011.

The two of you have made the Library much bigger than just a place with books and I will really miss you guys.  That space will never be the same.

Compliments to Briscoe Library staff

Good afternoon,

I just wanted to take a few minutes to compliment the staff. On every occasion I have submitted a question to “AskaLibrarian,” I have received prompt, detailed, and helpful responses. I have not needed to send multiple emails because of insufficient or difficult to understand information or instructions. Too often, we as consumers are quick to complain and slow to compliment, so I just wanted to let you know I appreciate the professionalism your staff shows and I am sure other staff feel likewise.

Thank you.

Compliments to Chris

I want to thank Chris Gaspard for the terrific presentation.  The students were very grateful and enjoyed being able to link the examples of sorting through types of studies to the scenarios you offered them.  It gave them an excellent application toward their knowledge in seeking out the evidence.  I am so appreciative and will definitely request that we do this again for my future classes.

This afternoon Ms. Katie Prentice gave the library orientation describing anatomy-related resources available to students in the summer anatomy course (CSBL5013/5019) composed of occupational therapy, biomedical engineering, and graduate students.  We wanted you to know what an absolutely fabulous job she did.  The presentation was extremely well organized, engaging, and informative, and will greatly benefit the students enrolled the course.  Ms. Prentice is a wonderful asset to your staff and the Briscoe Library.

I would like to unreservedly second Dr. Sakaguchi’s assessment and extol some more of Ms Prentice’s qualities. She organized this same library orientation for the CSBL5013/5019 classes in previous 2-3 years (when I was Course Director) and she was always very helpful, going well beyond our expectations on several occasions.  Even at very short notices, she was always willing to and cheerfully accommodated all our requests. She is indeed a tremendous asset to the library and institution.

Dear Katie,

Just read the library newsletter and saw the notice of your approval by the MLA for membership in the Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP), and at the SENIOR level!  That is fabulous news and so well deserved. Of course we all recognize how wonderful you are, but peer recognition is so very important and valued. Thanks for all you do, and for your graciousness and professionalism while you do it. Our HSC is so blessed to have you.

The entire Online Teaching and Learning team celebrates with you and our library colleagues in your accomplishment!

Ron Mesa is a great employee

I just wanted to mention that Ron Mesa is a great employee who turned out to be a wonderful friend.  I was employed in the Eye Clinic at University Health Center-Downtown for 15 years and he was always very helpful whenever I used the library services.  I have since retired but I know he will be missed by many at UHCD!

Thanks for your help!

I really appreciate Susan Hunnicutt’s  assistance researching the literature for my presentation on the 14 Annual Medicine Research Day.

Thanks, Pennie!

I’ve really enjoyed having my work on exhibit in the Briscoe Library and have especially enjoyed working with Pennie Borchers throughout the exhibit and during my talk on the healing effects of color. She’s been a delight to work with and immensely helpful on so many levels!
