P.I. Nixon Library Hosts UTSA Art Students

On June 4th, the P. I. Nixon Medical Historical Library hosted a group of art students from the University of Texas at San Antonio. In conjunction with the UT Health Science Center Garden Health Interest Group, these students are conducting research in preparation for a proposal for art for the Healing Garden located in front of the Briscoe Library.

Teresa Eckmann, PhD, Assistant Professor of Art & Art History and three of her MFA students, along with Charleen Moore, PhD and Alice Yang MS II from the Garden Health Interest Group, viewed a collection of 25 of the Nixon Library’s rare and historical books. Items on display included some of the library’s most beautiful and intricate anatomical atlases, as well as herbals and books illustrating plant anatomy and histology.
