Liaisons Help Youth in STEM Club Prepare for Science Fair

On September 20, the Library Liaisons visited and presented to the St. Matthew Catholic School STEM Club. The club consists of 45 highly-motivated 4th-8th graders who meet weekly at 6:30 a.m. to engage in Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics activities.   The visit was a great opportunity for the Library Liaisons to engage with the younger research community and acquaint them with UT Health San Antonio Libraries and its resources.  Many of the students are preparing for their annual science fair and the National Library of Medicine’s K-12 resources will help them in their quest for information.  Students also learned how to formulate a research question and reviewed internet safety.  The STEM Club is led by Sandra Sanchez-Reilly, M.D., a UT Health faculty member in the Department of Medicine, Division of Geriatrics, Gerontology and Palliative Medicine.
