Student Appreciation Week Brings Painting, Prizes, and More

Briscoe Library held its 1st Annual Student Appreciation Week during the week of October 30th to November 3rd. This week was a great success with students from all six schools coming out to participate in the library’s events each day.

The week began with a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the library’s new furniture, purchased with a Student Fee Award. SGA President Evan Lucas was honored to cut the ribbon. The P.I. Nixon Medical Historical Library was set up for tours with “spooky” artifacts on display. Also, the San Antonio Public Library came out to sign the campus community up for public library cards, promote the new digital bookshelf wallpaper, and help participants make fun Halloween buttons.

The next day was Halloween and students took pictures in front of the library’s Halloween Photo Wall. They enjoyed some tricks and treats as they spun the prize wheel for a chance to win gift cards, notebooks, candy, and other prizes.

On Wednesday, students had fun at the Paint Party and created amazing works of art, some of which are still on display in the library.

Cookies & Coloring took place on Thursday, as students relaxed by coloring pieces of our giant collages while enjoying some delicious cookies. The History of Medicine Society also came out to promote student interest and gave away t-shirts to those who signed up and answered history-related questions.

For the final day of Student Appreciation Week, students participated in Game Day with various puzzles, board games, and Virtual Reality games. Our furry friends from Therapy Animals of San Antonio also joined us for some cuddles.
