Art Exhibit: Dr. Apurva Bonde

Dr. Apurva BondeThis month in the library we're featuring art by Apurva Bondae, M.D., Assistant Professor of Abdominal Radiology. Dr. Bonde is practicing faculty at the MARC, and specializes in diagnostic radiology.

Her paintings are on display in the library lobby, The Hub, and on the 5th floor out front of the Nixon Library throughout the month of March.

More about Dr. Bonde

I have been painting as a hobby since childhood, starting with watercolor landscapes and later moving to acrylics. I loved exploring other techniques of madhubani, mandala and resin and created a few pieces using these techniques. COVID allowed me more time to explore my art, as I isolated myself from my family for their safety. Sharing my artwork with others brings me a lot of happiness.

March is National Nutrition Month

March is National Nutrition Month!

National Nutrition Month is an annual campaign celebrated in March, dedicated to promoting the importance of making informed food choices and developing healthy eating and physical activity habits.

Spearheaded by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, this initiative aims to raise awareness about the significance of nutrition in achieving optimal health and well-being.

The theme for National Nutrition Month changes each year, focusing on different aspects of nutrition and wellness. The theme for 2024 is Beyond the Table, which focuses on farm-to-table, including food production and distribution and how that impacts eating at home and on the go.

This year also focuses on sustainability, including reducing food waste.

Featured eBook of the Month

Nutrition: Maintaining and Improving Health

Geoffrey P. Webb

The author provides an evidence-based evaluation of many key nutrition beliefs and philosophies. The book contains in-depth and critical reviews of the methods used to evaluate nutritional intakes/status and the observational and experimental used to investigate putative links between dietary factors and health outcome. It covers the role of food as a source of energy and nutrients while discussing the non-nutritional roles of food and the social and psychological factors that influence food choice. Presenting a critical discussion on the value of nutrition research linking specific foods or nutrients to specific diseases which encourages students to question the value of some current nutrition research.

This is essential reading for all nutrition and dietetics students with different backgrounds who are studying nutrition as a specific discipline for the first time.
