JAMAevidence is Now Available!

Briscoe Library has purchased JAMAevidence from McGraw Hill. JAMAevidence is an online medical resource with guides and resources that help decision-makers identify the best available evidence by providing guides to the systematic consideration of the validity, importance, and applicability of claims about the assessment of health problems and the outcomes of health care. Textbooks available in JAMAevidence include:

  • Users' Guides to the Medical Literature: A Manual for Evidence-Based Clinical Practice, 3e
  • The Rational Clinical Examination: Evidence-Based Clinical Diagnosis
  • Care at the Close of Life: Evidence and Experience
  • JAMA Guide to Statistics and Methods

Other key features of JAMAevidence include:

  • Education guides for each textbook specific to teaching evidence-based medicine (EBM) concepts
  • Glossary accompanying each textbook
  • Learning tools to synthesize the readings, including critical appraisal worksheets and information cycle worksheets
  • Monthly podcasts from leading practitioners discussing core issues in evidence-based medicine
  • Online updates to chapters
  • Twelve calculators

We recommend creating a free MyAccess profile so you can access these resources remotely. This will also enable you to save your favorite content, create folders to organize materials, and receive access to interactive review questions. You must create your MyAccess profile the first time while on-site or through the VPN or proxy server.

For questions about JAMAevidence, how to incorporate it into your curriculum, and subscription information, please contact your library liaison or view our libguide

Saying Goodbye to Angel

With sadness, we remember former Briscoe Buddy Angel who passed away on July 13th, 2022. Along with her friend June, Angel was a founding member of the Briscoe Buddies Library Therapy Dog service which brought a lot of love and free hugs to the UT Health campus. We will miss you, Angel, and are thankful to have all the wonderful memories that you made possible in the library and around campus. Our thanks also go to Angel’s mom, Library Associate Director Andrea Schorr, for letting Angel be a part of our Briscoe Buddies.
