Copyright is legal protection (title 17, U.S. Code – http://copyright.gov) for the creator of original works (art, literature, or work that conveys original ideas). The law gives the creator or copyright owner the right to control how the work is used.
This tutorial is intended to serve as a brief introduction to the basics of copyright. It is not intended to be a substitute for legal advice. Inquiries about particular copyright issues should be referred to an attorney who is familiar with copyright law.
