Four Library Staff Attend Annual Meeting of the South Central Chapter of the Medical Library Association

Owen Ellard, Senior Director of Libraries; Jonquil Feldman, Assistant Director of Libraries; Emme Lopez, Liaison to the School of Nursing; and Christy Tyson, Liaison to the School of Dentistry attended the 44th annual meeting of the South Central Chapter of the Medical Library Association (SCC/MLA). The meeting was held in historic Old Town Albuquerque, New Mexico in mid-October. Owen attended the South Central Academic Medical Libraries (SCAMeL) Directors’ meeting as part of the event. Christina and Emme presented a paper entitled, “Mapping the ACRL Framework to interprofessional curricula in the health sciences,” which discussed the creation of a rubric to align and support information-literacy instruction in an interprofessional setting.  Other highlights of the meeting included continuing education opportunities, networking, and a talk by Patrician Brennan, RN, PhD, Director of the National Library of Medicine, entitled, “Data-powered Health and How NLM Will Make it Happen!”.

Next year’s SCC/MLA meeting will be held in San Antonio, Texas during the city’s tricentennial.
