Special Collections & Archives Staff

The Special Collections and Archives staff are part of the Collections, Acquisitions, and Resource Discovery Services (CARDS) unit of the Health Science Center Libraries of UT San Antonio. The team includes:

Diane Fotinos, Special Collections Librarian and University Archivist

Diane curates the Nixon Library’s rare books and artifacts related to the history of medicine and supports university-wide records management. She provides research assistance and offers tours, orientations, and instructional sessions. She oversees archives processing and coordinates exhibits.

Mellisa DeThorne, Senior Archives Specialist

Mellisa assists researchers and others using special collections and archival materials. She has expertise in locating historical photographs, conducting research and surveying specific collections and also processes archival collections and digitizes archive materials.

Ron Mesa, Senior Administrative Assistant and Archives Assistant

Ron supports the preservation of graduate student theses, dissertations, and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) inquiry projects, including cataloging these student works, uploading the documents into the digital archive, and managing access. He also assists with archival projects.
