The Briscoe Library's liaison librarians support evidence-based health care practice and research at UT Health San Antonio by providing guidance and expertise to those conducting structured literature reviews, such as systematic, scoping, integrative, or rapid reviews.
A structured review is a comprehensive literature review conducted to answer a specific research question. Authors of a these reviews find, code, appraise, and synthesize all of the previous research concerning their question. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) outline the minimum amount of information that needs to be reported at the conclusion of a systematic review project. Other types of what are known as “evidence syntheses” include scoping, rapid, and umbrella reviews.
The liaison librarians offer two tiers of support. We require that review authors correctly attribute the librarian who assists them according to the level of participation.
With the basic service liaisons provide limited consultation and assistance at various stages of your project. With full service a liaison will serve as an integrated member of your research team as an expert in search methodology. Co-authorship is required.

This level is open to all UT Health San Antonio faculty, or affiliates working directly with a faculty member, intending to publish a final manuscript . The items below detail the role of your assigned librarian throughout the process. At this time, we CANNOT ACCEPT requests for reviews led by outside faculty.
