Celebrating National Medical Librarians Month

October is National Medical Librarians month!
This year we’d like to highlight everything our medical librarians do, from supporting systematic reviews to purchasing. We’re here to support all your informational needs. Here’s a highlight of our services in fiscal year 2025.
Reference
All of our librarians provide comprehensive reference through our On Call service. Librarians are available through chat, phone, and walk ups between 9am-5pm, Monday – Friday. You can also schedule an appointment with our liaison librarians for more in-depth searching help.
- Answered 882 inquires through our On Call service
- Answered 2,423 reference questions through chat, email, phone, and through our kiosk
- Offered anytime instruction through 31 online tutorials and 223 research guides
Liaison Services
Our liaison librarians serve as point of contact for faculty, staff, and students in their respective schools. They offer a variety of services, including systematic reviews, embedded instruction, and research and educational support.
- Collaborated on 67 structured reviews, including:
- One integrative review
- 44 literature review
- One meta-analysis
- 9 scoping reviews
- 12 systematic reviews
- Provided 258 research and educational consultations.
- Included in authorship for 6 published research articles.
Collections and Resources
We provide access to a huge collection of databases, journals, ebooks, and other resources. Our Resource Management team continually reviews user requests and potential gaps in our collections, while working within budget and finding new ways to make our funds go further.
- 462,296 records (includes all access types – articles, searches, abstracts, etc.)
- 145,294 full text download through LibKey Nomad.

Interlibrary Loan
Have an article or book you need that the library doesn’t subscribe to? We’ll request a copy for you from another library! You don’t need to constrain yourself to one collection when we have a world of research we can borrow from. The ILL service is provided for free and digital copies are usually filled within 1-2 days.
- Filled 3,603 Interlibrary Loan requests for items the library doesn’t subscribe to.
- Provided 1,546 document delivery requests.
- Borrowed 151 print books from other libraries.
Other
- 97,595 views of our LibGuides.
- Published 8 new instructional videos.
- Hosted two History of Medicine Lectures:
- Ethics and the Deceased: History of Body Use in Anatomy Education and Current Commercialization in the United States by Dr. Laura Johnson.
- HIV Out Loud: Building the History of an Epidemic by Dr. Rachel Pearson and Dr. Yolanda Crous.
