Welcome to Sandra Desjardins, Our New Liaison Librarian for Clinical Library Services

Sandra DesjardinsSandra Yvette Desjardins, Ph.D., MLS, is excited to join our team as the new Liaison Librarian for Clinical Library Services. She is a member of the Clinical, Academic, and Research Engagement (CARE) unit, where she will serve as the primary library liaison for our clinical enterprise, including the UT Multispecialty & Research Hospital, the Mays Cancer Center, and our various clinical operations, residents, and fellows.

Sandra comes to us from Houston, where she spent the last few years as a Research & Instruction Librarian at the Texas Medical Center Library. Her academic background bridges several fields, giving her a unique blend of perspectives that are incredibly valuable when serving a diverse healthcare community. She holds a Master of Library Science (MLS) from Texas Woman’s University and a Ph.D. in Community Psychology from National Louis University.

Alongside her library and healthcare background, Sandra has also worked as a professional editor and bookseller. Her deep connection to the written word and her editing expertise fuels her passion for helping individuals track down, refine, and connect with the exact information and resources they need.

In this role, Sandra’s primary focus will be integrating library expertise directly into our healthcare environments, building collaborative relationships with clinical departments, and ensuring that our providers, researchers, and students have seamless access to high-quality medical information to support patient outcomes.

Chris Gaspard, MSLS, is currently coordinating her onboarding. If you’d like to set up a time to connect and discuss how the library can support your department, please reach out to Chris or Sandra to schedule an introductory meeting.
