New Read & Publish Agreement: Springer Nature
The library now has a Read & Publish agreement with Springer Nature. This package offers 100% APC coverage for over 1,400 hybrid journals.
What you need to know:
- Corresponding author must be a UT San Antonio Health Science Center affiliate (use your uthscsa.edu email address to ease the approval process)
- Includes the following article types: original paper, review paper, brief communication, and continuing education
What is excluded?
Gold journals and Nature titles.
As of January 2026, the library has Read & Publish agreements with 12 platforms, and grants access to more than 7,400 different journals. Since its inception the service has helped save $630,884 for affiliates. In the first two months, the library saved UT San Antonio Health Science Center affiliate $28,640 in Springer Nature APC fees.
We work with publishers to establish transformative agreements that either discount or often completely waive publishing fees for authors who want to publish Open Access. These agreements foster community stewardship through open access and encourage a shift away from paywalling research.
